Do Greenville SC Chiropractors take Medicare?

As people age, it becomes increasingly common to experience some type of pain, which will bring them to a chiropractor’s office. Whether their pain is from a chronic condition or a recent fall, at the front of most of these patients' minds is whether the office will take their Medicare plan. What Medicare does and doesn’t cover in Greenville SC

Typically, Medicare care will cover 80% of the cost of chiropractic adjustments after the patient has met their deductible for the calendar year. Medicare will require a chiropractic office to perform X-rays on a patient to treat them. However, Medicare will not cover the patients’ X-rays despite their need for them. In addition, Medicare will not cover, in-office exercise, physical traction, acupuncture, or red-light therapy.

Medicare Advantage

There are several different Medicare Advantage plans, so it will be impossible to estimate exactly if your plan will have coverage. Most of the ones that we see in the office do cover to some degree chiropractor adjustments, however, there are some that do not have chiropractor coverage unless a direct referral is given to the patient’s direct network. Most of the plans that we see here do not have coverage are HMOs (Health Maintenance Organization). HMOs require a patient to see only doctors within their direct network and are unable to see a doctor outside of their HMO’s care network, which will limit the ability to see some chiropractors.
